Remediation of Land and Groundwater
The EIA Remediation of Land and Groundwater Working Group is delighted to welcome Emma Midgley and George Daykin-Pell from HM Treasury for a timely discussion on the Government’s consultation on Reforming Land Remediation Relief (LRR).
As HM Treasury seeks industry views on proposals to make the relief more accessible, better targeted and more closely aligned with the realities of brownfield development, this session will provide members with a rare opportunity to hear directly from the policymakers leading the review. Emma and George will outline the latest consultation proposals, share insights from previous stakeholder engagement, and invite discussion on the practical implications for the remediation and redevelopment sector.
This is a valuable chance for EIA members to influence the future of one of the sector’s most important fiscal incentives and ensure that the voice of the remediation industry is heard at the heart of Government.
Emma Midgley
Policy Adviser, Financial Services Taxation, HM Treasury
Emma Midgley is a Policy Adviser within HM Treasury’s Financial Services and Taxation team, where she is involved in the development and review of tax policy designed to support economic growth, investment and regeneration. Emma has been closely involved in HM Treasury’s work reviewing and reforming Land Remediation Relief (LRR), engaging with industry stakeholders to better understand how the relief operates in practice and how it can be improved to support the redevelopment of brownfield land while ensuring value for the taxpayer. Emma has played a key role in the consultation process and is helping to shape the Government’s approach to the future of the relief.
George Daykin-Pell
HM Treasury
George Daykin-Pell is part of the HM Treasury team leading stakeholder engagement on the Government’s review and reform of Land Remediation Relief. Working closely with businesses, industry representatives and professional bodies, George is helping to gather evidence and feedback on proposed changes to the relief and their potential impact on brownfield regeneration and investment. Through the consultation process, he has been supporting Treasury efforts to ensure that future reforms are practical, effective and aligned with the Government’s wider ambitions for growth, housing delivery and the redevelopment of contaminated and long-term derelict land.
